A NEW YORK SLICE

Big Bill is a larger-than-life restaurant owner who embraces his customers with homey hospitality and serves amazing New York–style pizza and Italian food. Before he opened Big Bill’s New York Pizza in Centennial in 1995, Bill Ficke owned an athletic shoe store and served as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets for three seasons. His love of basketball and other sports is evident from the photos and memorabilia that decorate almost every inch of wall space. A true New Yorker at heart, every September 11 Big Bill’s N.Y Pizza hosts the 9/11 Day of Giving Fundraiser. Instead of paying a meal check, diners make a donation, and the proceeds go to cancer research. Since it began in 2009, the annual event has raised more than $1.6 million.

UPSCALE MEXICAN IN CASTLE ROCK

The two horses have arrived in Castle Rock. Los Dos Potrillos, the family-owned Mexican restaurant with locations throughout the south Denver metro area, has expanded with its location in Castle Rock that opened in January. The restaurant features panoramic views of the town and has large windows that pour natural light into the sleek dining area. During the summer, expect the expansive patio to be packed with patrons sipping margaritas and watching the sunset. Los Dos Potrillos has gained a favorable reputation in the south metro area, and Castle Rock is lucky to have this addition to its dining scene.
