Ahh, to the Spa

Nowadays, mountain bikers, hikers, golfers, skiers, snowboarders and pamper seekers are scouting out luxuriant spa services to relax and rejuvenate after a day on the mountain. They’re looking for massages and mani-pedis, in addition to a host of body therapies (think black silt clay exfoliation, infrared sauna wrap, oxygen infusions, CBD oil rub), resulting in a healthier, more invigorated self. Here is a sampling of heavenly mountain-town spas where you can recoup from your adventures.

Anyone staying at The Sebastian, a AAA Four Diamond Award–winning hotel, immediately appreciates the service associated with a Timbers Resort. Whether you’re experiencing a CBD body recovery massage with its combo of hot stones, stretching and organic hemp oil infused with Arnica oil, or maybe a red rock detox mud wrap, this spa invites you to explore many ways to get right with the world again. Oxygen inhalation therapy, the ultimate age-defying facial, the lime blossom body scrub and a foot soak in a salt and herb bath leave you feeling a much-warranted Rocky Mountain high. Separate men’s and women’s areas have steam rooms and saunas, and in-suite services are available for hotel guests.

What exactly are the benefits of inhaling salt-infused air? You’ll find out after entering Vail’s only Himalayan Salt Inhalation Lounge, where “with each breath, microscopic salt particles are drawn into the airways, allowing one to breathe more deeply, restoring healthy respiratory function.” An amenity of The Hythe (formerly the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort), this aptly named spa has many avenues for rejuvenation. Its diverse menu includes a CBD Balancing Restoring Body Wrap comprised of CBD infused oils and balms, while a CBD Recovery Massage helps your muscles spring back from a day on the mountain thanks to CBD and Arnica infused oil. If you’re a mother-to-be, indulge in a prenatal massage that helps vanquish stress, reduce swollen joints and promote better sleep.

Guests of this Euro-vibe hotel feel as if they’ve been transported to Bavaria. Recipient of the 2021 and 2022 Travel + Leisure 10 Best in Resorts in Colorado awards, the hotel’s spa emphasizes wellness, personal attention and pampering. An outdoor tranquility pool with a waterfall complements the heated, indoor/outdoor co-ed whirlpools and tsunami showers. Its oxygen bar produces 94.7 percent O2 to assist in adjusting to the higher altitude. A heated stone massage soothes aching muscles, while a dry brushing treatment exfoliates dead skin cells and improves circulation. Refreshment stations get you more centered by providing fresh fruit, a selection of hot teas and fruit-infused water.

When you book a Coco-luscious Wrap, you know something marvelous is in your future. After your body is buffed using a coconut sugar scrub, a mango pineapple enzyme works its magic to exfoliate and tighten your skin. A Blueberry Soy-licious Wrap and Cranberry Divine Scrub produce similar results, each giving you exceptionally soft skin. If you’re visiting this boutique spa with your special someone, the Suite Surrender menu item invites you first to receive dual massages, then share a soothing bath in the spa’s two-person infinity edge tub, and finish with champagne and chocolate. Helping you acclimate to Keystone’s 9,000-foot elevation is a massage coupled with oxygen, which combine to relieve altitude discomfort, loosen achy muscles and induce more restful sleep.

First opened in 1889, the Forbes Travel Guide Four–Star hotel has numerous ways to be revitalized. Small by spa standards (there are only three treatment rooms), the boutique oasis invites you to benefit from a menu of treatments that, as the spa’s website states, is “grounded in a selection of curated and unique spa experiences featuring natural elements and botanicals found in The Rocky Mountains.” You begin with a complimentary, personalized Grounding Botanical Foot Soak. After selecting your botanicals and essences from the Element Bar, your custom blend is then infused into your treatments. A popular massage employs the spa’s signature CBD oil sourced from Steamboat Springs. Furthering your relaxation are hand-blended herbal fruit teas from Moving Mountains Tea Company.

Details: Check with the spas to learn about full-day, half-day and multi-day packages and specials that include a variety of body and skin treatments. Bride-to-be, mom-to-be, new moms and guy-centric packages are common. Personalized wellness, cycling/skiing/snowboarding fitness and nutritional programs are often available (expect to pay a premium fee). Most spas have a 16 years and older age requirement. Gratuities to spa staffers are extra.
