From the outside, Centennial’s Curate: A Local Mercantile, formerly the Unlisted Market, seems unassuming. Housed in a nondescript beige building tucked into a quiet shopping center off of University Boulevard, one might expect to find a small fashion boutique, home store or gift shop inside. The store actually has all three, plus more than 100 other rotating specialty artisans in what is an expansive co-op boutique. Here, nine brands to browse first.
BB SKIN CARE
Inspired by a love for clean skin-care products and an all-too-relatable obsession with shop- ping, Amy and Jim Calhoun started BB Skin Care to offer locals a variety of skin-care prod- ucts from Florida-based Naples Soap Company. The organic body butter, vitamin E-rich salt scrubs, high-in-antioxidants face oils and more were created to cater to those with eczema, psoriasis and other skin issues. In other words, products offered by BB shouldn’t irritate skin.
MYRA BAG
These casual men’s and women’s carryalls and accessories (such as beer caddies and wine bags) are made from a mix of recycled military tents, genuine leather and hides, which use a natural vegetable tanning process. We’d use an upcycled canvas bag as a weekend purse.
PRAIRIE ROSE BOUTIQUE
Prairie Rose Boutique, opened in 2006 out of Red Bluff, Calif., is named after National Cow- girl Hall of Famer Prairie Rose Henderson and inspired by her bold style. The shop stocks clothing, bags, jewelry and vintage goods with a Western flare.
NUHNI
Nuhni’s goal is to “make life simple”—by way of eco-friendly, no-fuss beauty products and home helpers. Reduce fine lines and restore your complexion with Silpods, a gentle exfo- liation tool made from silkworm cocoons; de- stress with jade massagers and Hinoki Japa- nese cypress bath cubes; clean the house with Eco Sponges, made to last longer and minimize waste.
MUD PIE
This Georgia-based business is an all-around lifestyle brand. In Curate, you’ll find a multi- tude of kitchenware, including condiment dish- es and dip-cup and cheese-serving sets, several garnished with clever cooking puns. Online you can order linens, women’s wear, kids’ clothes, gifts and a variety of home goods.
BARKING BANDIT BOUTIQUE
Now your pup can accessorize, too. Little- ton-based Barking Bandit Boutique sports printed collars and leashes, as well as cross- body bags equipped with a baggie pocket.
COWBOY COLLECTIBLES
Celebrate the spirit of the American West with handmade jewelry made from real horse hair— you read that right. Based out of Montana, the families who craft the jewelry transform locks into ranch-ready bracelets, necklaces, earrings, barrettes, keychains and bolo ties.
WOODWORK FOR YOU
Artist Ted Mellin is fascinated with woodworking; we are captivated by the things Mellin cre- ates by hand. His cheese knives, bottle openers, ice-cream scoops, wine stoppers, bowls and more are made from the finest woods available.
SUCCULENTS ARE FOR SHARING
Very realistic faux succulents that will look nice year-round—that’s what you’ll get from Succulents Are For Sharing’s owner and succulent designer Megan Nygren. She plays with color and texture to make every arrangement unique. Succulents come in different sizes and forms, including terrariums and wreaths.
