Ridwell is an innovative reuse and recycling service that makes it easier for Denver area residents to keep common household items out of landfills, waste less, and help protect the planet.
As a complimentary service to city-based recycling programs, Ridwell is a service that helps households reduce waste by picking up and finding use for the hard-to-recycle items that are not part of municipal, curbside recycling programs.
The biweekly service picks up four categories of household items not accepted in local curbside recycling bins including plastic film (produce bags, Amazon envelopes, shrink wrap, plastic baggies and more); batteries; lightbulbs; and threads (clothing and shoes). A fifth featured category rotates every other week with an additional list of items, including electronic devices, holiday lights, eyeglasses, winter coats, sports equipment, corks and more.
Committed to full transparency about where recovered items go, Ridwell publishes details about the local partners they work with who responsibly reuse or recycle the items they pick up. Featured partners on the Front Range include WeeCycle, SustainAbility and We Don’t Waste.
Since launching in Denver late last summer, Ridwell’s 4,000 local household customers have already diverted more than 100,000 pounds of reusable or recyclable items, including over two million plastic bags from landfills.
Ridwell services are now available in neighborhoods throughout Denver, Boulder and surrounding metro communities including Arvada, Broomfield, Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Golden, Gunbarrel, Lafayette, Lakewood, Littleton, Louisville and Superior.
Monthly subscriptions range between $12 and $16 per month and include a sturdy metal bin for the front porch, reusable cloth bags for sorting materials, and the biweekly pick-up service. For more information, please visit www.ridwell.com.
